The Latest Lip Filler: The Botox Lip Flip!

We have those big-lipped actresses from Hollywood to thank for the lip filler hype these days. Everyone just needs to get those juicy plump lips, and we only have ourselves to thank for the surge of demand for lip fillers.

For those who want to catch up on the trend, here is a couple of basic info you need to know. The lip filler procedure also known as lip augmentation is commonly done using hyaluronic acid-based fillers. Minus the scientific jargon, here are a few of the household names when it comes to filler brands: Juvederm, Vollure, Restylane, honestly, there are already a lot of choices out there, I can write an entire article by just enumerating them. But we are not going to focus on the old brands. Today we are going to talk about something new. The latest in the lip-filling business. The Botox Lip Flip.

It has just been recently discovered that the wrinkle wonder, Botox injections can also be used to slightly contour or reshape the lips in order to come up with that perfect pouty look. It can be used either by itself or in combination with other fillers, according to the patient’s specific needs.

So how does Botox work for lip augmentation?
What Botox generally does is flip out the lip line, allowing the lip to plump outward and give that naturally poutier look. Just keep in mind that Botox and your regular fillers don’t really work the same way, hence, they provide two different results.

The fillers add volume to the lips, which in turn, literally makes it bigger. Botox on the other hand, simply relaxes the muscles about the mouth (these muscles are called “orbicularis oris”), and this allows the lips to roll or flip outward hence the term, “lip flip”, making it look poutier without the literally added volume.

The Side-Effect of Botox Lip Flipping That Everyone Should Know
The Botox Lip Flip might sound simple, but don’t be mistaken, the procedure itself is very complicated. The Botox only needs to be injected in the target layers of the muscle in the right dosage to get the pouty look without disabling the function of the muscle. Which means what, exactly?

Well, if the procedure is not done correctly, it might mean no more eating and drinking for you for the next few months. If the doctor gets the dosage low, the pouty effect would not last long enough. If the doctor gets the dosage too high, you get the idea. This is the reason why this procedure should only be administered by board-certified professionals.

When done right, the treatment, Botox Lip Flip, only requires around 10 units of Botox (sometimes, even less), and the effect lasts for up to four months. The pain is only minimal, and described as a small stinging sensation due to the injection. Finally, the cost varies from clinic to clinic.

So, having known what is possibly in store, would you want to give the Botox Lip Flip a try?
